Abstract

A process for galvanizing in the presence of aluminium comprises immersing the articles in an aqueous flux solution and either including in the flux solution a dissolved aluminium compound or treating the fluxed article with an aqueous solution of an aluminium compound thereafter drying the article and immersing it in molten zinc. The flux preferably contains 25-30% of zinc ammonium chloride and aluminium chloride equivalent to 5% aluminium. The use of ammines of aluminium chloride is also disclosed.
