Abstract

830,067. Electric servo-systems. GILFILLAN BROS. Inc. March 2, 1956 [March 31, 1955], No. 6722/56. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a radar with a plan position indicator, Fig. 2a (not shown, see Group XL (c)), a deflection coil of the cathoderay tube is rotated synchronously with the aerial by means of a servo-system comprising a selsyn transmitter 20A ganged to the aerial and connected to a selsyn control transformer 510, Fig. 4 (not shown), to generate an A.C. error output which is amplified at 531 and applied together with an A.C. reference signal to a synchronous demodulator 533 to give a corresponding D.C. error signal which is integrated in a doubly clamped integrator 535 to ensure a faster response to signal changes, converted back to A.C. in a modulator 537 and applied through a push-pull amplifier 539 to an A.C. servomotor 540, Fig. 3 (not shown), which drives the deflection coil and also a tachometer 550, Fig. 1 (not shown), providing an A.C. rate signal which is also applied to the amplifier 539.
