Abstract

829,471. Bearings. ISICO S. A. April 18, 1958 [May 7, 1957], No. 12400/58. Class 12 (1). A shock-absorbing bearing comprises a thrust socket 3 located in a bore 2 of a housing 1, the socket 3 being capable of sliding and rocking in the bore 2 under the action of a spring 7 which bears against the socket 3 through the intermediary of a member 22 having a surface in the form of a portion of a sphere. In a modification, the face of the member 22 is flat and coacts with a convex partspherical surface on the bottom of the socket 3. In another variant, the conicity of the lateral face of the thrust socket 3 is inverse to that shown in Fig. 1. Alternatively, the thrust socket 3 could be cylindrical and the bore 2 of the housing conical. The recess 4 may be ogival or spherical. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 2, a ball 17 is interposed between a spring 7 and socket 3.
