Abstract

An apparatus for coating articles with paint, e.g. electric condensers 2, by dipping, comprises a circular, e.g. annular, container 4 mounted horizontally and rotatable about its axis, guiding means including a pulley 3 mounted above the container 4 and having its centre at least near the axis of the container 4, means for rotating the pulley 3 and container 4 synchronously, <PICT:0828901/III/1> and means, e.g. a universal coupling 11, for allowing the axis of the pulley 3 to be inclined at a small angle, e.g. 10 degrees, to the vertical. The condensers 2 are attached to a paper strip 1 which passes about the pulley 3 driven through a sprocket 10. Paint is circulated by a pump 7 from a sump 8 through the container 4 to an overflow leading to the hollow shaft 9 of the container 4. The axis of the pulley 3 intersects the axis of the container 4 at the level of maximum immersion of the condensers 2, which are so suspended from the strip 1 that they enter the paint at approximately the point where the strip 1 contacts the pulley 3. The pulley 3 may incorporate an electric heater. The strip 1, after passing through the container 4, is wound on a spool 12. Specification 774,073 is referred to.
