512,527. Photographic developing apparatus. WRIGHTSON, J. R., and GARLAND, A. H. March 14, 1938, No. 7893. [Class 98 (ii)] In a tank of the kind in which the film is wound in a single helical layer on a rotatable drum dipping into the processing solution, the bottom of the tank proper is substantially concentric with the drum and is shaped at one end to form a pouring lip, the bottom being supported between vertical side members to provide a space under the lip where an inspection lamp may be located. As shown, the drum 5 on a spindle 10 supported on side members 2 is driven by an electric motor through gearing 14, 15. The tank bottom 3, Fig. 3, having a pouring lip 3c, is inlet into the members 2 which are of three-ply wood or of transparent material, and under it is a trough from which developing liquid can be drained by a pipe 7. An inspection lamp 20 and a re-exposure lamp 22 are housed beneath the tank bottom, the portion of the tank above the lamp 22 being frosted so that only indirect rays reach the film. An immersion heater is located in the trough or inlet into the walls. To permit inspection of the film, the drum has an aperture .5c, Fig. 1, which may be aligned with a periscope 24. The parts may be made from plastic material such as celluloid or synthetic resin.
