Abstract

<PICT:0441524/III/1> <PICT:0441524/III/2> Apparatus for irradiating liquids such as milk comprises one or more passages enclosed by plates 4, 19 permeable to ultra-violet light, a distributing device 14 at one end and a collecting trough 10 at the other end. Irradiating bodies 3 are arranged outside the plates 4, 19 for their whole length; they are preferably exchangeably mounted in frames 5 which slide into guides 6 and are secured by a hinged cover 7. The guides are integral with a reflector 8, and a second reflector 17 covers the apparatus. The distributing device consists of several divergent mouths covered by a slotted lip 14.
