828,399. Hypodermic syringes. SCANDINAVIAN AMPIN A.B. April 18, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 12367/58, Class 81 (2). A hypodermic injection appliance comprises a body formed as two telescopic parts enclosing a frangible ampoule, containing medicament under pressure and connected to a needle, arranged so that when the two parts are pressed together the needle is made to protrude and the neck of the ampoule is broken. In the form described the two parts 1, 3 of the casing are normally held extended by projections 8, 9 with the tip of the needle 16 located in a recess 18. The needle is held in a support 7, which is connected, through a flexible tube 12 with the neck 11 of the ampoule 5. When the parts are pressed together the lower end of the inner part 3 forces the holder 7 and needle 16 downwards, so that the latter pierces the thin wall 19. Towards the end of the movement a rod 17 tilts a collar 13, placed around the neck of the ampoule, which is thereby broken, so that the medicament passes out through a filter 15 to the needle.
