Abstract

836,760. Toy medical syringes. GLASS, M. I. Oct. 22, 1958 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 33776/58. Class 132(3) A toy simulating a medical syringe comprises a translucent barrel 11, a blood coloured element 24 and an opaque plunger sleeve 22 slidable between them, the barrel having a nozzle 14 and a spring loaded needle 19. On withdrawing the plunger, the coloured element is held against the inner end 12 of the barrel by a spring 29 and is gradually exposed to view thus simulating the filling of the syringe and, on pushing the plunger back into the barrel, the sleeve covers the coloured element and the syringe appears to be emptying. The coloured element can be secured within the plunger by resilient forked ends 27 releasably engaging in a bore in the plunger head so that on demonstrating the plunger the coloured element remains within it hidden from view and the syringe appears to be empty. The principal parts may be of plastic.
