828,190. Ingot moulds. VALLAK, E. Feb. 3, 1958 [Feb. 4, 1957], No. 3480/58. Addition to 731,324. Class 83 (1). A sinking head box made of combustible or charrable porous and gas-permeable material, as described in the parent Specification which is referred to, has at least part of its surface facing the interior of the mould, provided with one or more layers of exothermic material. There may also be provided on top of the exothermic layer or layers, a layer of such a nature as to prevent the cast metal absorbing carbon from the combustible or charrable material. Specification 753,789 also is referred to.
