Abstract

828,026. Luminescent screens. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 28, 1957 [Aug. 28, 1956], No. 27152/57. Class 39(1). An image display screen is formed on the viewing panel of a cathode ray tube by coating the panel with light-sensitive alcohol, rinsing it with solvent for the alcohol, depositing a layer of light-sensitive alcohol and a phosphor on the panel, masking portions of the layer, exposing the unmasked portion of the layer to light and removing the unexposed portion of the layer with a solvent. The sensitive layer comprises a polyvinyl alcohol and ammonium dichromate in solution in ethyl alcohol and the preliminary coating preferably comprises polyvinyl alcohol in aqueous solution containing between 0À1 and 0À8% by weight of the alcohol. Specification 804,958 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 713,908.
