Abstract
Ethylene is polymerized by a process characterized by continuously (including incrementally) and simultaneously adding ethylene, Ziegler-type catalyst and solvent to a reaction zone and continuously withdrawing polymer slurry. Optionally the catalyst may be formed in situ from the components and, if desired, liquid residue remaining after separation of polymer may be recycled. The polyethylenes obtained are of restricted molecular weight distribution, as may be determined by fractionation using toluene/butanol. Specifications 815,161 and 826,563 are referred to.
