Abstract

826,501. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Nov. 2, 1956 [Nov. 2, 1955], No. 33483/56. Class 38 (2). The sound emitted from a transformer is reduced by providing the transformer walls with ribs 37, 38 at the top and bottom to strengthen these sections and providing a sound-damping compartment outside the middle section by means of rails 12, 13 and an outer wall 16, 18 which is suspended by means of a tension or compression member 17 of steel or rubber. Cellular rubber strips 14, 15, 26, 27 are positioned between the rails and the outer wall. In a modification, Fig. 4, the wall 18 is suspended by a spring 24 disposed between metal sheets 31, 32, the wall 18 carries masses 40 to increase the inertia and is covered with antiresonance material. The transformer is oil filled and sound-absorbing mats 41 are provided in the oil. The oil pipes to the cooling radiators may be resiliently connected.
