[Also in Group XXIX] A fluid-pressure motor comprises a piston 28 formed as a rack 36 between sealing-rings 37, 39 and meshing with a gear 26 on an output shaft. The chamber housing the gear and the portion of the piston chamber between the rings 37, 39 form a self-agitating lubricant reservoir. The surface of the piston opposite to the rack and the adjacent surface of its chamber are formed to provide a bearing, and felt lubricant dispersing pads 38, 40 aid lubrication of this bearing. When liquid is admitted to one end of the piston chamber to actuate the piston, the adjacent ring 37 or 39 acts as a sealing ring and the other ring 39 or 37 acts as a wiper, removing any foreign matter from the surface of the chamber. Also, the principal wear of rings 37, 39 occurs when they are in their sealing positions, and if leakage tends to occur, after long use, past a ring when in its sealing position, the leakage pressure is transmitted by the lubricant to the other ring which is in its relatively non-worn wiping position. The wiping-ring thus acts as a secondary stop or back-up. Specification 814,475, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
