Abstract

826,441. Copying documents. RITZERFELD, W., and RITZERFELD, G. April 30, 1958 [May 10, 1957], No. 13715/58. Class 100(2) A duplicating machine for printing lines or sections from a printing master sheet on to copy sheets, cards or the like comprises a plane printing element for carrying the master sheet, a counter pressure element movable along the printing element, a plurality of settable control means which are allocated to individual lines or sections of the master sheet for controlling printing co-operation of the counter pressure element with the printing element, means for pre-setting the control means, and a sensing member movable with the counter pressure element for sensing during movement with said element, which control means have been preset, whereby to cause printing of those, lines or sections which correspond to the pre-set control means. A stationary frame 1, Figs. 1 and 2, supports a master sheet 12, and carries two spindles 17, 18 on which are pivoted two series of cams 13, 13a, one pair for each part of the master sheet and spaced therealong accordingly. Each pair of cams can be moved by a corresponding key 14 through links 15, 16 into the chain line position in Fig. 2, there to be held by a latching pawl 19. An eccentric shaft 29 can be rotated to release all the pawls 19 and allow springs 30 to restore the cams to unset position. A slide assembly includes plates 2, 3 carrying studs 26, 26a slidable in slots in the frame 1. Mounted on the plates are a counter-pressure roller 8 rotatable on a shaft 27, a handle 21, a feed roller 7 and an ejector roller 9 in contact with the roller 8, a feed table 20 and a collecting plate for copy sheets 4, a moistening device 5 pivoted at 25, and a moistening roller 6. Movement of the handle 21 counter-clockwise actuates a link 23 to swing the moistening device 5 against the copy sheet and roller 6 to moisten the sheet. The shaft 27 causes rollers 28, 28a which co-operate with cams 13, 13a in their unset position as the slide assembly is manually moved along the frame 1, and hold the roller 8 out of contact with the master sheet. When a pair of cams 13, 13a is pre-set, the rollers 28, 28a on reaching the alignment of said cams allow the assembly to swing about the studs 26, 26a and bring the roller 8 against the master sheet. Alternatively, the links 15 can be actuated by electromagnets energized by the keys 14. In another form, Fig. 6, the roller 8 is carried on arms pivoted on the studs 26 and urged clockwise by springs, the rollers 8 being moved against the master sheet 12 when electromagnets M1, M2 are energized. A contact member on the slide assembly moves over a series of stationary contact members allocated to the lines or sections to be printed, and an electric potential can be relatively applied to each stationary contact member by a key T. When the movable contact member touches a stationary contact member whose key is actuated, the magnets are energized, Before and after reaching the master sheet, the roller 8 is in contact with the frame 1, to be rotated thereby and rotate the rollers 7, 9 to feed, moisten and deliver the copy sheets.
