Abstract

<PICT:0826096/III/1> <PICT:0826096/III/2> An apparatus for de - gassing liquids and plastics consists of a worm 3, Fig. 1, for conveying the liquid subdivided by one or more cylindrical shaft sections 5 surrounded by a housing 6 forming evacuatable chambers 8, 9, Fig. 2, having walls which form with the shaft wedge-shaped passages 10, 11, 12, 13 through which the liquid passes. Liquid fed into an opening 1 is forced by the worm through an aperture 4 into the de-gasification zone 6, where it is spread by the wedge-shaped openings into a thin layer on the cylindrical roller 5. Gases are drawn off through ducts 17, 18, and the de-gassed product is conveyed to an outlet 16.
