Abstract

1338411 Photographic processing apparatus AGFA-GEVAERT AG 10 Dec 1970 [10 Dec 1969] 58821/70 Heading G2A [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for drying photographic layer supports comprises a distribution chamber 8 of which one wall is formed by a perforated plate 7, the linear dimensions of the distributing chamber in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the perforated plate being small in comparison with the linear dimensions of the distributing chamber in directions parallel to the plane of the perforated plate, means 4, 5 for advancing the layer supports in a plane outside the distributing chamber and substantially parallel to the plane of the perforated plate, and means 11, 12 for supplying drying air to the interior of the distributing chamber, the arrangement being such that, in operation, drying air leaves the distributing chamber uniformly through the perforations in a direction normal to the plane of the perforated plate to contact the surfaces of the layer supports. Driven rollers 5 co-operate with idler rollers 4 to transport a layer support from an inlet 3 an outlet, the layer support already having passed through an automatic processing apparatus. The drying air is heated prior to entering the blowers 11, 12 as controlled by a thermometer probe 21, channels 9, 10 linking the blowers with the distributing chamber 8. End portions 4a, 5a of the rollers 4, 5 are of reduced diameter to facilitate the flow of air. The drying air circulates within the drying chamber 13 as shown by the arrows, and part of it is recirculated to the inlet of the blowers.
