Abstract

825,825. Incinerators. NORTH EASTERN GAS BOARD. Nov. 7, 1955 [Aug. 7, 1954], No. 23007/54. Class 126 Refuse is supported between firebars 5 and in a tapered cylindrical hearth 6 by a conical bottom 7. The hearth 7 is suppported by a stem 8 sliding in a guide 9 and resting on a lever 10. The lever 10 is raised by a crank 18 formed in a shaft 12 connected by a dog clutch 13, to a lever 11 opening the lid of the incinerator through a lost-motion mechanism. On depressing the lever 11, the spindle 12 and crank 18 rotate, raising the hearth 7. A peg 19 moving in a slot 20 in a fixed bearing 21 causes the clutch 13 to disengage against the spring 16, allowing the hearth 7 to fall. On further movement of the lever 11, the sleeve 24 engages the sleeve 25 and opens the lid 26, at the same time operating a time delay through an arm on the shaft 12 to feed gas to the burners 31 for a predetermined time.
