825,812. X-ray apparatus. SIEMENS-REINIGER-WERKE A. G. Feb. 14, 1958 [Feb. 16, 1957], No. 4972/58. Class 98(1) [Also in Group XIV] In a surgical table or couch for use with X-ray apparatus and having a couch or support 1 pivotally connected to levers 4. 5 pivoted in turn to a pedestal 8, the support 1 is adjustable in a vertical plane by means of a rod 11 pivoted thereto and displaceable longitudinally by a motor 12 and a slidable bolt 15 engages either of members 18, 19 on the support and pedestal respectively to lock levers 4, 5 to the support 1 when not bearing on the pedestal and to the pedestal when bearing thereon. Locking pawls 22, 23 act under springs 24, 25 to engage recesses 26, 27 on bolt 15. Just before the support 1 reaches the horizontal position pawl 23 is released by a striker 28 carried by the pedestal 8 and pawl 22 can secure bolt 15 in its position of engagement with member 19 to lock lever 4 to the pedestal, the support 1 being inclinable about pins 2, 3. As the support returns to its horizontal position pawl 22 is disengaged by a striker 30 on support 1 and bolt 15 slides to release member 19 and engage member 18 so that support 1 and levers 4, 5 can be swung together into the vertical position.
