Abstract
1451908 Chair anchoring means SIEMENS AG 15 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 53148/73 Heading A4U In a chair, e.g. for a dentist, a tube 4 carrying the chair seat is slidably mounted in a base 1 and has a member 8 at its bottom for engaging the floor 26 to prevent movement of the chair, the tube being biased by a spring 12 to a raised position in which the member 8 does not engage the floor and being movable against the spring- bias by the weight of a person using the chair to a lowered position in which the member 8 engages the floor, a latch-pin 14 being provided for releasably retaining the tube 4 in its raised position and a locking device manually operable by an arm 5 being releasably engagable with the latch-pin to lock it in its tube retaining position. The locking device includes a pin 18 engaging the latch-pin 14 via a spring 19 and engaged by a spring-loaded eccentric disc 20 which is rotatable by the arm 5. The latch-pin 14 biased to its disengaged position by a spring 25, and it has a bevelled endface so that it can be automatically engaged with the tube 4 when the tube moves to its raised position. The spring 25 can be adjusted by a nut 24 so that it overcomes the force of the spring 19 when the arm 5 is in its unlock position, to disengage the latch-pin 14 from the tube 4. The latch-pin may also retain the tube 4 in its lowered position.
