Abstract

1290599 Demountable partitions; sliding doors S M P (LOCKWALL) Ltd 29 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 20609/70 Headings E1J and E1W A demountable partition comprises a body panel 10 with a spring loaded channel section clamping member 11 enclosing the foot of the panel and in use holds the partition clamped between a ceiling and a floor, and by the operation of the over-centre mechanism 17, as by a key inserted into the bore 25 in the arm 23, the member 11 is retracted against the action of its springs 20 to allow the body 10 to drop and enable the castors 15 and wheel 14 to contact the floor and take the weight of the partition and the partition can then be pivoted on the wheel 14 for the partition to be moved in any direction on the castors 15, the wheel 14 and castors then projecting through apertures 27 in the base of the member 11. The head of the partition may be provided with projecting guide means engaging in a ceiling trackway for the partition. The clamping member 11 may be mounted on the head of the panel 10 and the roller castors 14 and wheel 15 are then mounted in the foot of the panel for vertical movement relative thereto and compression springs urging the wheel &c downwardly relative to the panel (Fig. 3 not shown).In another alternative, the panel 10 may be suspended from a trackway and the clamping member may be then mounted at the head or foot of the panel.
