Abstract

1,145,708. Slidable doors &c. R. H. NEISEWANDER. 12 Sept., 1966 [6 July, 1966], No. 40557/66. Heading E1J. A slidable partition panel 10 comprises a frame 14, 15, 16, 17 and side panels 11, 12, a vertically movable horizontally extending load equalising bar 23, 24, on the top of the frame and resiliently connected to rail 14 by springs 29, and an undercarriage 41 constituted by levers 42 pivoted at one end at 44 to the lower rail 15 and having intermediate their ends caster assemblies 46, 49 mounted thereon, and a retracting and extending mechanism 20 disposed between the panels 11, 12 and constituted by a spring pressed upper rod 27 supporting at its upper end a channel bar 25 secured to the equalisation bar 23, 24 and guided at its lower end in a guide tube 30 in the housing 18 for the mechanism 20 and having at its lower end the roller 34 of a cam rider 35, the mechanism 20 having a similar lower rod 37 in a guide tube 38 and pivotally attached to the other or free ends 45 of the levers 41 and gravity controlled by the weight of the door and the upper end of .the rod 37 having a roller 40 of a cam rider 39, this arrangement being such that as the cam device 31 is rotated about its axis by means of a tool in square recess 33, the panel is lowered from the position shown to the floor and simultaneously the bar 23, 24 is raised and the cushion element 26 contacts the ceiling and vice versa, so that when the panel is raised from the floor and the bar 23, 24, lowered from the ceiling, the panel is free to be moved. Rubber cushioning strips 51 engage the floor when the assembly 41 is retracted. Notches 31a on the disc 31 in cooperation with the cam rider 34 enable several positions of adjustment of the cam to be obtained.
