Abstract

1,001,292. Venetian blinds. VENETIAN VOGUE Ltd. Aug. 26, 1963 [Aug. 29, 1962], No. 33147/62. Heading E1J. A venetian blind for a window sash 11 pivoted on a horizontal axis so that its upper part 13 moves clockwise into a room comprises an upper portion 25, held against the sash by quick rods 22, and a lower portion 26 which hangs freely from the heavy bottom slat 27 of the portion 25. The rods 22 pass through slots in the upper slats and engage eyelets 29 pivoted in the slat 27. The lower slats 26 are short enough to pass between the rods. As shown each rod 22 is supported by a spring 30 in a bracket 21 on the sash, and detachably engages a T-slot in a plate 31 on the sash. Alternatively the plate 31 may be replaced by a bracket providing screw-threaded tensioning means for the rods. To compensate for the change of slat tilt between the two portions of the blind as the window is opened, the slats of portion 26 are initially inclined, as shown, relatively to those of portion 25.
