Abstract

825,627. Ropes. FARBWERKE HOECHST AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT VORM. MEISTER, LUCIUS & BRUNING. Feb. 1, 1956 [Feb. 2, 1955], No. 3251/56. Class 109 A rope of synthetic yarns consists of a core of approximately parallel yarns within a braided cover, the elongation at break of the cover yarns being a half that of the core yarns and the total elongation of the cover corresponding to that of the core. A core 2 consists of a large number of parallel twisted yarns 5 each consisting of several threads 6. Around the core 2 is a cross-braided cover 1 of strands 3 each consisting of several twisted yarns.4 which in their turn consist of several threads 6. Preferably the core is of polymeric e-caprolactam and the cover of polyamide or polycaprolactam which has been afterstretched. The yarns may be treated with tanning agents to prevent relative displacement between cover and core.
