825,395. Jointing; making dialysers. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. April 11, 1958 [April 19, 1957], No. 11606/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of sealing a plug 1 or cylindrical connector 2 in the end of a tube 3 made of a sintered material comprises providing said plug or connector with a cylindrical portion adapted to fit with a slight transverse play when cold in the end of the tube, inserting the plug or connector into the tube and heating said end of the tube to a temperature higher than the temperature of sintering of the tube and then allowing the assembly to cool. The tube 3 is made by sintering a nickel powder at 700‹ C. and the plug and connector are of non-porous sintered nickel. The assembly is placed in a vacuum container 4 and the ends of the tube are located in the windings 5 of the inductor of a high-frequency furnace which heats the ends to about 1100‹ C.
