Abstract

824,992. Tanks. GENERAL ENGINEERING CO. (STALYBRIDGE) Ltd. March 31, 1958 [March 30, 1957], No. 10472/57. Class 69 (1). Means for repairing tanks comprises a metal plate 10 provided with a plurality of holes 17, 18 at intervals adjacent one part of its perimeter (Fig. 1) and a plurality of studs 15, 16 adjacent another part of its perimeter, whereby a plurality of such plates can be arranged in regulated disposition, with the studs of the various plates accommodated in holes of adjacent plates, to provide a panel of size and shape suitable for securing to a part of a tank requiring repair. As shown in Fig. 2 the circular roof of a tank such as a gas-holder may be repaired by means of a repair assembly comprising a circular disc 24 having a plurality of holes or studs therearound adjacent its perimeter and a plurality of plates 10 arranged in concentric circles around the disc 24. Studs 23 may be welded around the outer periphery of the tank or a strap-like member having a plurality of studs may be secured to the periphery of the tank. To repair the walls of the tank rectangular plates are provided. A pair of strap-like members are secured to the top and bottom of the wall to provide studs for securing plates to enclose the wall.
