In a record-changing gramophone or recordplayer including a stem 2 provided with a pivoted lever 9 the upper end of which is initially located above the level of an abutment 4 on the stem which supports a stack of records D 2 . . . D 6 so that pivotal movement of the lever causes the upper end thereof to engage the centre hole of the lowest record of the stack and shift that record laterally to clear the abutment, the lever extends beyond the lower end of the stem and is movable vertically under the weight of the remaining records of the stack to a position in which the upper end of the lever is at the same level as the abutment, and there is return spring means 13 co-operating with the lower end of the lever to cause return pivotal movement of the lever clear of the lowest remaining record of the stack after a recordchanging operation and then to return the lever upwardly to the initial position thereof when the remaining records of the stack are supported by the abutment. As shown, the lever 9, which has a longitudinal slot 12 and is pivoted on a pin 10 carried by the stem 2, is rocked about the pin by movement of an element 11 which during a record-changing operation is moved in the direction of arrow F, Fig. 2, to swing the lever about the pin and cause the record D 2 to be shifted laterally clear of the abutment and allow that record to slide down the stem and on to the turn-table of the apparatus; the remaining records D 3 ... D 6 descend while the upper end of the lever 9 is engaged with the lower surface of the record D 3 , the lever consequently moving down within the stem 2 to the position shown in Fig. 3, whereby the end of the lever is level with the abutment which takes the weight of the records. Movement of the element 11 away from the lever frees the lever for return pivotal movement clear of the record D 3 , this movement being effected by a ramped end portion 13<SP>1</SP> of the spring which causes a pivoting force on the lever acting in the direction of the arrow F 1 . On completion of this movement the spring moves the lever upwardly to the position shown in Fig. 1, ready for the next record-changing operation.
