Abstract
824,764. Hay making machinery. BAMFORDS Ltd. Jan. 23, 1956 [Feb. 2, 1955], No. 3040 /55. Class 6(3). In order that it may be used for tedding purposes, a side delivery rake as described in Specification 802,201 is provided with an additional front wheel 20 mounted at the forward end of the shorter frame member 12, together with means for detachably mounting on each of the front wheels 19 and 20 a draw bar 24. For side raking purposes, the draw bar is mounted on the wheel 19 and the implement is drawn in the direction of the arrow 17, but for tedding purposes the connection is mounted on the wheel 20 and the implement is drawn in the direction of the arrow 30. As illustrated in Fig. 2, the draw bar 24 is mounted on, for example, the wheel 20, by providing a removable set screw connection between it and the lower forked end 28 of the wheel stem 26, the strap 29 of the draw bar being formed with a hole through which the upper end of the wheel stem passes. Alternatively the draw bar may be permanently fixed to one wheel 19 or 20 and the wheels themselves be removably mounted on the frame 10 so as to be interchangeable. In either case, when the direction of advancement of the machine is changed, it will be necessary to adjust the orientation of the rear wheels by means of the lever and quadrant mechanisms 23. Reference is made in the Provisional Specifications to 748,240, 748,259, 767,331 and 778,910 (cognate with Specification 802,201).
