Abstract

An anti-friction material comprises a sintered mixture of a high melting point metal or metals and a ceramic of melting point above 1000 DEG C. and a hardness less than corundum, in which the particle size of each is less than 300B.5.5. The metal may furnish 50-90% of the mixture, and be nickel, cobalt, iron, chromium, copper or mixtures or alloys thereof, whilst mullite is the preferred ceramic. Other ceramics are zircon and magnesia. A temporary binder, e.g. wax, aids shaping.
