Abstract

822,935. Continuous gelatinizing apparatus. BOK, H. A. Nov. 16, 1956 [Dec. 13, 1955], No. 35180/56. Class 58. Apparatus for continuous gelatinizing of barley, oats, rye and soya beans by steam or other gas under pressure comprises a fixed, horizontal pressure-tight casing 1, a longitudinally extending drum 4 rotatably mounted in the casing on a rotary shaft end 10 and having a central axial feed 20 and a discharge opening 33 in the opposite wall, pressure-tight material feed and discharge devices 23, 29 and at least one feed line 35 for a treating medium passing through the wall of the casing and entering the drum through its discharge opening. The feed and discharge devices are preferably rotary valves provided with a scraper, Fig. 2 (not shown), at the discharge side to clean each rotor cavity as it passes the valve outlet. The drum is rotated on races 43 bearing in grooved rollers accommodated in housings on the circumference of the casing 1, Fig. 3 (not shown). Aqueous flavouring may be supplied through a pipe 34.
