Abstract

Wool is chlorinated in an acid aqueous bath in the presence of a hydroxy-alkylated or hydroxy - cycloalkylated 2.4.6 - triamino - 1.3.5.-triazinyl compound which contains at the three amino nitrogen atoms a total of at least 4 hydrogen atoms but no aromatic substituents and each hydroxyalkyl group as at least two carbon atoms. The chlorination may be effected with alkali metal salts of hypochlorous acid. In Example (1), wool is introduced into a bath containing sulphuric acid and 2-monohydroxy-ethylamino - 4 - 6 - diamino - 1.3.5 - triazine and a hypochlorous lye is added. A wetting agent may be present. The wool may be dechlorinated by adding sodium bisulphite. In Example (2) the bath is heated to 50 DEG after adding the hypochlorite lye.
