Abstract

A flexible backing web is coated with an adhesive obtained by stabilizing an auto-oxidizable resin with an anti-oxidant and then adding an elastomeric polymer. Resins specified are rosin, dehydrogenated and hydrogenated resin and their glycerols and glycerides, polyterpene and coumarone-indene whilst the elastomers are natural and synthetic rubbers (see Group IV (a)). Plasticisers, fillers and colourants may be present.ALSO:An adhesive is obtained by stabilizing an auto-oxidizable resin with an antioxidant and subsequently adding an elastomeric polymer. Resins specified are rosin, hydrogenated or dehydrogenated rosin and their glycerols and glycerides, polyterphene and coumarone-indene, whilst elastomers are natural and synthetic rubbers, e.g. copolymers of butadiene with either styrene or acrylonitrile, polychloroprene, polyvinyl ethers, acrylate elastomers and their mixtures. Plasticisers, fillers and colourants may be present. The antioxidants include polyphenylamines, hydroquinone derivatives, nitrogen derivatives of tetra-acetic acid, and zinc n-dibutyl dithiocarbamate.ALSO:An adhesive is obtained by stabilizing an auto-oxidizable resin with an auti-oxidant and subsequently adding an elastomeric polymer. Resins specified are resin, dehydrogenated and hydrogenated resin and their glycerols and glycerides, polyterpine and coumarone-indene, whilst elastomers are natural and synthetic rubbers (see Group IV(a)). Plasticizers, fillers and colourants may be present.
