Abstract

Pressure-sensitive adhesives contain cis-1,4-polyisoprene as at least part of the elastomeric component. Other constituents include tackifying resins, e.g. poly-b -pinene, fillers, pigments, softeners, and antioxidants. Adhesive tapes may be formed by coating, e.g. a polyvinyl chloride or regenerated cellulose film, with these adhesives. Comparative examples describe the use of natural rubber in place of the cis-1,4-polyisoprene.ALSO:Adhesive tapes are formed by coating e.g. a polyvinyl chloride or regenerated cellulose film with a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising cis -1, 4- polyisoprene as at least a part of the elastomeric component. The substrate may be prime coated. Other constituents of the adhesive coatings include tackifying resins e.g. poly-b -pinene rosin and rosin derivatives and coumarone-indene resins, fillers, pigments, softeners, and antioxidants. Comparative examples describe the use of natural rubber in place of cis -1, 4-polyisoprene.
