Abstract
821,707. Microphones. LUSTRAPHONE Ltd. Sept. 5, 1957 [Sept. 5, 1956], No. 27168/56. Class 40 (4). In a balanced armature type of electromagnetic transducer, the armature 1 has integral supporting arms 2 fitted with thin foil U-shaped strips 6 in slots 3, and the assembly is clamped between two permanent magnets 7, 8 which are secured together by screws 9, virtual pivots adjacent one end of the armature being provided by narrow arm portions 5 formed by the slots. The armature passes through a coil 10, and has its free end positioned between polepieces 12, 13 with an integral extension 15 connected by adhesive to a diaphragm 17. The transducer is mounted on a frame 18 which is enclosed by a casing 20 having an apertured cover 24, the frame also supporting a resonator tube 27. Resistance damping is provided by the portion 19 of the armature between the slots 3 since it is positioned in the narrow air gap between the magnets.
