Abstract

1357403 Electroacoustic transducers MICROTEL NV 6 Sept 1971 [16 July 1971] 41409/71 Heading H4J A microphone, receiver or other electroacoustic transducer comprises a U-shaped armature 7 supported to permit free movement of one of its legs in an air gap defined between two permanent magnets 5, 6 which abut against opposite wall portions of a box-shaped housing 4 made of magnetically conductive material. Housing 4 has a single opening and this is in the side which permits entry of the movable leg of the armature 7. The other armature leg is fixed and is in the magnetic circuit comprising the housing 4 and magnets 5 and 6. The fixed armature leg is preferably secured to an outer wall of the housing 4. The movable armature leg passes through a coil 8 which, together with the housing 4, is secured to one side of a mounting plate 3. A relatively rigid sheet metal diaphragm 9 is secured to the other side by a springy rib 10 of thin foil which hermetically seals the diaphragm 9. A drive pin 11 is attached to the diaphragm 11 and butt jointed to the movable armature leg adjacent the housing 4. An enclosure comprises a container 1 and cover 2 hermetically sealed together. The housing 4 and armature 7 are spaced from the enclosure Acoustic vibrations pass through an opening in the cover 2.
