Abstract

821,554. Shovelling machines. WEATHERILL, F. Oct. 23, 1957 [July 23, 1956], No. 22731/56. Class 68(1) A load handling device comprises a scoop 7 (Fig. 1) carried by a pair of arms 16 pivoted at 7a to a pair of main lifting arms 1 which are pivoted at 4 to a framework 3 attached to the chassis 2 of a vehicle. The arms 1 are raised and lowered by an oscillating vane type hydraulic motor 8 (Fig. 2), the oscillating vane being attached to the shaft 4 and the casing being fixed to the framework. The scoop is rotated by a similar motor, the oscillating vane being attached to the shaft 7a carrying the arms 16 and the casing 8 to the levers 17, the outer ends of which are pivoted to the control rods 6. The other ends of the rods 6 are pivoted at 5 to the framework 3. The purpose of these rods is to impart an automatic roll-back action to the scoop, so that having been filled and turned to the upright position shown in chain line in Fig. 1 it is maintained in this position as the arms 1 are raised. In a modification the hydraulic motors are of the type set forth of Specification 817,964 [Group XXVI] in which the shaft 4 or 7a is a fixed member (Fig. 4) which carries a sleeve 8b solid with one end plate of the motor and also with the oscillating vane 10. The outer casing of the motor and the other end plate are fastened to the framework 3 in the case of the lifting arms motor and in the case of the scoop pivoting motor to the levers 17.
