Abstract

677,313. Scoop-arm loading-machines. GRIFFIN, T. N. Nov. 14, 1950. [Nov.- 25, 1949] No. 27848/50. Class 78 (iii). [Also in Group XXI] The boom 14 of a scoop-arm loadhandling machine is pivotally supported by links 9, 20, pivoted to fixed uprights 13 secured to the tractor frame, and is moved from the position shown in full line to that shown dotted by a pair of hydraulic thrust units 24. Tht scoop 19 is pivotally attached to the boom at 18 and has abutments 28 which limit rearward tilting, and latch arms 29 which normally engage a shaft 34 and maintain the scoop in the digging position. Rotation of shaft 34 by means of a handle 41, rod 40 and bell-crank 37 disengages these latches and allows the scoop to empty. In the digging position an abutment 44 on the boom engages a bolster 42, secured to the tractor frame, and steadies said boom. The scoop may be replaced by a hay rake, a bulldozer blade, or a load lifting hook pivoted to the centre of a bar which extends between pivots 18.
