Abstract
820,616. Electric hotplates. JACKSON ELECTRIC STOVE CO. Ltd. July 2, 1956 [July 1, 1955], No. 19054/55. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XXXVII] A removable electric hotplate unit of the type attached to a carrier extending diametrically and terminating at its outer end in a head portion lying beyond the periphery of the plate has a switch disposed in the head portion, the switch being operable by a thermostatic member in thermal association with the heater element so as to open the heater circuit at a pre-determined temperature. As shown, a hotplate a comprises a head portion q on the lower face of which are mounted supply pins i and j, an earthing pin k and, between the pins, a switch having two contacts e, f, e being connected by means of a terminal h and a lead m to one end of the heater element and f being connected to the pin i, the other end of the element being connected to the pin j. The switch operating member is connected to the tube c of a thermostatic bulb b which responds to the hotplate temperature and acts on the switch to open the heater circuit at a predetermined maximum temperature, The thermostatic member may be of the differential expansion type (Fig. 2, not shown) or of the thermo-couple type, and a strip of heat conductive metal may be provided between the heater element and the thermostatic member.
