Abstract

820,318. Variable resistors; circuit assemblies; couplings. CHICAGO TELEPHONE SUPPLY CORPORATION. Dec. 22, 1955, No. 36846/55. Classes 37 and 38 (1). A variable resistor switch combination for use in association with a printed circuit is provided with mounting means to which the component is attached by tabs 20 and comprising a front wall 10 and side walls 21, the side walls being provided with legs having shoulders 22 thereon and spring fingers 25 extending from the legs as shown in Fig. 3. The combination is mounted upon a panel 23 having printed wiring on its underside by means of the spring fingers 25 which engage in holes in the panel 23. Terminal leads 12, 13, 14 of the resistor and terminal leads 18, 19 of the switch extend from the component in a direction perpendicular to the panel and are of such a length as to project through holes therein, the leads being soldered to the wiring on the underside of the panel. The unit may be further held in place on the panel by soldering one or more of the fingers 25 to a suitably disposed earth conductor 29; alternatively a blob of solder on one or more fingers is sufficient to retain the unit in place. The front wall 10 of the mounting means is provided with apertured ears 31 whereby the unit may be further secured to a supporting wall extending perpendicular to the panel 23.
