Abstract

975,246. Electric component assemblies. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Jan. 4, 1961, No. 436/61. Heading H1R. Electronic components, forming e.g. a H.F. crystal filter, are housed in metal cases 7, having component leads 11 emerging from one end, and being mounted between the base portion 1 of an outer metal housing to which the ends of the cases 7 remote from leads 11 are secured, as by connections 8, and an insulating board 12 having holes through which the leads 11 are passed, connections to and between the leads being effected on the face of the board remote from the components, as by soldering or by printed circuitry on said face of board 12. A further insulating board 14 is placed between the connections between leads 11 and a closefitting cover 2 of the outer housing. A heat insulating layer 9, located between the cases 7 and the base 1 to protect the components when the housing is soldered at 6 and 10, may sometimes be dispensed with. Connections 13 connect leads 11 to external terminals 3 which pass through insulating collars 5 in the base 1, which is provided with mounting screws 4. A plurality of very small components may be enclosed in a single case 7, and components which do not need shielding may be simply connected between base 1 and board 12.
