May 14, 1957 [May 17, 1956], No. 15397/56 Class 132(2) [Also in Group XIX] A tabular calculator is, in one form, specially adapted for bridge scoring and comprises three coaxial tubular casing members 36, 37, 38 within which are rotatably mounted inner cyclmders 47, 59, 53 respectively, the latter bearing tables of scoring values visible through windows 41, 46, 45 and being rotatable by sleeve portions 51, 61, 56 to reveal the desired scores. The parts are carried on a writing instrument 62. The cylinder 47 is formed with a helical groove by which it positions a cursor 49 having a pointer visible through a window 39 and moving against a scale of numbers of tricks. When the cursor is set in accordance with the number of tricks, the cylinder is further rotated through a part of a revolution to set the appropriate marking "Made", "Doubled" or "Redoubled" on the sleeve 51 against an index whereupon the corresponding number of points is visible under the appropriate one of three suit markings on the cursor. The section 38, 53 of the device is generally similar but computes the points arising from over-tricks and, by means of an additional cursor, Fig. 9, from undertricks. The central section 37, 59 is a simple indicator for extra points. A second embodiment of the calculator (see Group XIX) is adapted for currency conversion.
