Abstract

551,320. Radio receivers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and COCKERELL, C. S. Aug. 12, 1941, No. 10262. [Class 37] [Also in Group XIX] The graduated scale member of an indicating apparatus is arranged to move successively across and along the length of a cursor line which is itself curved or shaped to correct the readings for ascertained errors. As shown applied to the tuning scales of radio receivers, Figs. 1 and 2, the scale s is engraven or otherwise marked, in accordance with a known law, helically upon a cylinder c on an operating axle a. The axle is also operatively connected to a pointer p traversing a scale equal to the length of the cylinder. The casing of the receiver is formed with a window closed by a transparent covering t with a correction curve cc forming a cursor line. The scale on the cylinder may have a plurality of ranges and co-operate with a corresponding number of pointers. The correction curve is obtained by calibrating the receiver at a number of selected points on the scale.
