[Also in Group XV] A date indicator is incorporated in a writing instrument, e.g. a retractable ball-point pen or propelling pencil, which comprises a barrel 1 provided with one or more windows 5 through which symbols, representing the days of the week or the months, can be seen when the instrument is advanced to writing position, such symbols being hidden when the instrument is retracted. Symbols are provided on a cylinder, not shown, surrounding a reservoir 7. Further symbols may be spaced around the whole periphery of the cylinder, such that by turning a knob 4 further information is brought into view.
