819,545. Pruning-shears. HOARE, S. N. Jan. 21, 1958 [Jan. 21, 1957], No. 2131/57. Class 30 The anvil jaw of pruning shears has a body portion opposing the cutting blade along the line of cut and has a layer of resilient material forming a cushioning surface in the cutting zone. As shown, a layer 9 of rubber or plastic is vulcanized or bonded to the anvil jaw 5, which is pivoted at 6 to the handle 1 and coupled to the handle 2 by a link 7 to provide a drawout action. Preferably the jaw 5 has a rib 11 over which the cushioning layer is thinned or absent and in a modification the cross-section of the jaw is modified to key with a cushion moulded on to the jaw.
