Abstract

819,259. Vehicle brakes. LEYLAND MOTORS Ltd. Dec. 24, 1957 [Sept. 24, 1956], No. 29147/56. Class 103 (1). In a motor road vehicle, the brake operating system comprises an air reservoir 5, near to the brake pedal 6, an engine-driven compressor 1 maintaining a standard pressure in the reservoir 5 and two air chambers 8 and 9 each divided by a diaphragm, a valve 7 operated by the pedal 6 connecting each air chamber 8 and 9 with the reservoir 5, a master hydraulic cylinder 11, 12 for each air chamber having its piston attached to the diaphragm therein, the cylinders 11 and 12 being connected by separate pipes 15 and 18 to slave cylinders on the front and rear wheel brakes respectively.
