Abstract

818,452. Overhead conveyers. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Jan. 7, 1957 [Jan. 10, 1956], No. 766/56. Class 104 (2). A conveyer system in which wheeled trolleys 10 are advanced along a base track by releasable flexible connections 13 with a driven overhead chain 11 and are propelled up a slope 15 by one or more dogs under the trolley engaging cross connections on pairs of endless chains 21, 26 at the beginning and continuation of the incline respectively the chains 26 being driven faster than the chains 21 and the speed of the chains 21 being equal to or greater than that of the chain 11. The chains 21, 26 pass round sprockets 23, 25 of different diameter on the same shaft 24 and the dogs 30, 31 are of different lengths to engage the chain cross connections. Alternatively the dogs have the same length or only one dog is used and the chains are passed round the sprockets on spaced shafts 36, 37 and at different levels to provide an upper run in the same inclined plane. A retarding dog 35 is also provided for controlling the trolley on a downhill slope. A mast is connected to the connection 13 by a safety release device.
