Abstract
817,488. Vehicle couplings. FLIGHT REFUELLING Ltd., and NORTON, H. W. July 17, 1957 [April 17, 1956], No. 11686/56. Class 103(5) A coupling unit 24 comprises a hook 25 and a ramp 27 up which a complementary hook on an engaging coupling rides to engage behind the abutment face 29 at the forward end of the recess 28. The coupling unit is pivotally mounted at 22 on a block 15 carried in guides to enable it to move around a vertical axis. Uncoupling is effected by upward movement of the hand levers 37 (Fig. 4) which raises the block 44 to disengage the hook of the complementary coupler. Dowels 46 and recesses 47 on the front face of the coupler ensure that engagement and disengagement of both coupler hooks takes place simultaneously.
