Abstract
816,836. Reciprocating pumps. TECALEMIT Ltd. June 28, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22271/56. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a lubricating system for a vehicle, the suction stroke of a reciprocating pump 35, having a spring operated delivery stroke, is actuated from a rotary shaft 3 through intermediate gearing comprising gear train 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, a one-way clutch, cam 29 and pivoted lever 33. The clutch comprises a plate 23, freely mounted on a shaft 16, having outwardly projecting dogs 24, 25 which, for one direction of rotation only, are adapted to engage with a similar pair of dogs 26, 27 formed on the final spur wheel 21. A spring 28 forces the plate 23 towards the spur wheel 21. The cam 29 is drivingly connected to the clutch plate 23 by means of a pin 30. The lever 33 has one arm 34 engaging the cam 29 and another arm 51 engaging a flanged collar 39 secured to the end of the pump piston 38. The latter is disposed in a cylinder 35 to which oil is supplied through ports 43, 44 and from which oil is discharged through an outlet anion 45 incorporating a spring-pressed non-return valve 48. The mechanism is mounted in a casing 1 having an inlet 54 which is adapted to communicate with a supply of oil. The rotary shaft 3 is incorporated in the flexible driving shaft 60, 61, Fig. 2 (not shown), of the vehicle speedometer cable. Alternatively it may be driven from the propeller shaft or gear box of the vehicle. The invention may also be applied to a machine having a rotary shaft or reciprocating part for driving the pump.
