815,803. Temperature-responsive actuating - elements. KOLLSMAN INSTRUMENT CORPORATION. June 15, 1956 [March 29, 1956], No. 18541/56. Class 64(2) Also in Group XIX] A temperature-compensating element for use in the transmission system of a pressure gauge (see Group XIX) is formed by a bimetallic strip 17 loosely mounted on pins 41, 42 so that when the temperature falls from a pre-determined median, it will flex as shown in Fig. 3 and no compensation will be effected, the relative positions of members 16, 18 being unchanged, and when the temperature rises above the median, the element 17 will flex as shown in Fig. 4, thus effecting compensation. The device may be constructed to effect compensation on a fall in temperature. In a second embodiment, the strip is firmly secured at one end to the member 16 and the pin 18 allowed to rest on the other end of the strip.
