Abstract
815,608. Spring suspensions. SPENCER, MOULTON & CO. Ltd., G. July 19, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 11986/56. Addition to 743,976. Class 108(2) A torsional shear spring vehicle suspension for independently sprung wheels comprising tubes 7, 8 and an outer trough-like element 10 closed by a common plate with interposed rubber bodies 13, 14 bonded to each part as described in the parent Specification has a vernier mounting for the suspension arms 3, 4. Flanges 5, 6 of the tubes 7, 8 have a series of bolt apertures a-a<SP>3</SP> while the suspension arms 3, 4 have a corresponding series of apertures b-b<SP>3</SP> one set being equally spaced while the other set is unequally spaced so that by selection of an appropriate set of holes the setting of the arms can be adjusted. An anti-roll bar 30 with splined portions 31 engages splined sockets 32 or in a modification a bar is mounted in bushes at the inner ends of the tubes 7, 8. The arms 3, 4 may be apertured for track rods or driving shafts to pass through.
