Abstract

814,988. Turn-button fasteners. UNITEDCARR FASTENER-CORPORATION. July 2, 1956 [July 11, 1955], No. 20494/56. Class 44 A turn-button fastener comprises a base part 1, Fig. 2, to be attached to a support 6, Fig. 3, and a button 2, of a synthetic organic plastic material, rotatably mounted on the base part 1 and formed with an axially disposed cavity 10 housing a spring 4 bearing on an inner end wall 13 of the cavity 10 and held in place by a pin 3 extending through the base part 1 and button 2, the button 2 and base part 1 being provided with cam portions 21, 22 for locating the button 2 in one of two or more predetermined positions, the spring 4 resiliently holding the button in these positions. The base part 1 is attached to a support by a rivet 5 having its end portion 7, Fig. 3, turned over, if the support is not rigid a washer 9 may be inserted between the end 7 and support 6. The button 2 is of oval crosssection to pass through a similar crosssection grommet and then turned at right angles to prevent withdrawal of the grommet.
